Chapter Nineteen
Jamari
I was tired of sitting in this house doing nothing, I mean I knew it wasn't safe for me to be out but there was only so much XBOX I could play. A part of me wished I would've just stayed in NC, but I knew that things happened the way they’re supposed to.
The shit I found out still blew my mind. Skye was my sister. My own mother had me kidnapped and didn't even bat an eye. I used to pray for the day that she came back into my life, but I didn’t think that she would come back this way.
I wiped the tear that rolled down my face as I thought about my mother or should I say Nora. I wanted so bad to hate her and act like she never existed the way Zacari does, but I couldn't. Truth is, she was my mother and I loved her. I was snapped out of my thoughts by my ringing cellphone.
"Yea?" I answered.
"Hey you. You never called," Trinity's sweet voice filled my ear causing me to smile.
"My bad Ma, I had some shit going on," I told her.
"Uh huh, tell me anything," she giggled lightly.
"So what's been going on Miss Lady?" I asked her.
"Just school and...” she paused.
"And what?"
"I have a son name Jamani," she told me and I was a little shocked.
"Wow."
"Yea, he'll be 3 in February," she replied softly.
The last time we were together came rushing back to me.
It was the summer before I left to go to school. Trinity and I spent that whole summer together. Before I left, we promised to not let the distance come in between us. After a year of me being at UNC, the calls got further and further apart, then stopped all together.
One day I called her and the number was disconnected. I was hurt, she was my heart, my fist love. She left me high and dry with no explanation and didn't once try to find me, or so I thought.
"Jamari?"
"Huh, uh yeah, I'm here."
"I'm sorry," she told me softly.
"For what?" She had me confused.
"The way we ended. I was lost and confused, when I got up the courage to call a chick answered your phone and I hung up," she told me and I automatically knew the female she was talking about. It was Monice.
Monice was a female I used to mess with on and off for a while. She was a cool chick, just too clingy. She wanted more from me than I was willing to offer, so I had to let her go. My heart was with Trinity and that would never change.
"Is he mine?" I asked her. She didn't respond right away.
"Yes, he's yours. I'm so sorry Jamari," she finally replied knocking the breath out of my lungs. "We can take a blood test if you want, I know he's yours though. You are the only man I've ever been with."
"Why didn't you tell me?" I whispered.
"I didn't know how. I was scared Jamari.
